Well, this is only a part of the truth. The change behind the scenes is so massive, it's really impossible to say that these layoffs are not driven by AI.
They don't really have to perform these layoffs right now, but on the other hand massive overemployment is also a fact. When I look back, I realise that 80% of the work i was doing, say, 10 years ago, nowadays would never be done manually, or maybe it would be not needed at all.
